While driving home from another Mythcon (Mythcon 20, Vancouver, British Columbia) we drove through McKinley Pass in Oregon. It was like driving out of the Old Forest straight into in Mordor, instantly taking me from deep forest to volcanic wasteland. On the top of the pass sits a black tower built in the 30’s, made from lava rock, serving as a observation tower. The steps leading up were piles of rock supporting heavy chains between, and I couldn‘t resist using them for this wizards tower.
